We had the internal launch of the new site at Beckett Headquarters yesterday. It was a ton of fun with lots of music, cookies, and pack wars. From accounting to advertising, everyone at the company is getting involved and testing the site before the public release. Keep checking back and don’t forget to go here for a sneak peek of the new site features!

With all the money you guys make off grading you can’t afford chairs? Why are all the woman seated on the floor? Are you guys running a polygamis operation where the woman sit and the all the men gather ’round and choose their partners? That’s just what it looks like in the first pic. I’m contacting the FBI.

Will the Beckett message boards be affected by the new site change?

Comment by President Obama

Pres – If you’ll notice, all the boys are sitting on the floor on the other side of the room. So I’d say it’s more of a junior high dance.

To answer your question about the message boards, yes they will be affected. They aren’t going away – there will actually be more of them. Similar to this blog, there will be opportunities to discuss (or rant) on almost every page of the site!

Props to whoever rounded up the cookies and cokes for this 10:30 meeting. Nothing like a sugar/caffeine high to increase mid-morning productivity at Beckett HQ!

will the “my collections” be shifting over to the new site? I just spent unknown hours/days adding thousands of cards and I really don’t want to have to do it all over again. I see you will have a better updated my collections, but i’m hoping that the existing ones move over.

So when is the new site going to be launched to the public?

Comment by Dave ©

azsoxpats – yes, the “my collections” will be shifting over. Along with that comes lots of new features that will make it easier for you to add cards and get organized.

Comment by Danielle Ramsey

Dave – We’re hoping to have the beta site open to the public in May.

The my collection feature looks slick in the next generation of the site. will it permit or allow the exporting of your collection to a txt file or are you stuck with only being able to view your collection online? Thx!! There are times when I would like to access my collection offline!!

Comment by baseballcollector

baseballcollecotr – There’s not been any talk of allowing users to export data on the new site. The ability to print reports has been discussed for future development phases though.

Comment by Danielle Ramsey

In the ‘My Collection’ page, will it be possible to upload the data into Excel? Or will there be easier sorting options on the new site? Thanks.

Comment by Chris

Chris – you will not be able to export data to excel, but I think you will be pleased with the new organization features. You’ll be able to easily create and label multiple collections, assign quantities and conditions with a click, and much more. And yes, within all of your collections you’ll be able to sort by description, condition, quantity, and the Beckett value. It’s a bit difficult to explain in a short comment, but we’ll be posting some online videos soon to show how the new “My Collections” will work.

will there be pictures of our cards in this collection site , or will we be able to add our own pictures ?

Comment by john

John – There will be Beckett stock images, but you will also have the opportunity to upload your own pictures if you prefer.

im super excited for the release of the new beckett format. what is the expected due date.sooner the better

Comment by wade

Will you have the ability add a value in the new “My Collections”? A lot of times the price guide value shows up as N/A – and this is a locked cell. Will we have the ability to make changes to this with the new feature?

Comment by TD54

TD54 – Within Organize (My Collections), you will see the Beckett value as one of the columns if you have an online price guide subscription. One of the views in Organize will be something called “Trade View” – you will have the opportunity there to put in your own Buy Price and/or Sell Price. Another options, which is sort of along the lines of what your asking, is User Submitted Pricing (new feature) where members will have the ability to record their own price for items on the site. This is NOT in Organize, but shared throughout the site on item pages.

Comment by Danielle Ramsey

wade – I would love to be able to give you a launch date, but we’re still working through private beta testing. I’m hoping for sometime in the coming months.

Very excited to see this…. I’m a regular OPG subscriber & was wondering if the OPG will be releasing with increased functionality?

Just a few problems at the moment with it are..

1. You can’t see Fleer Showcase Row 0 (plus other rows depending in the year) unless you do a search for them
2. Don’t like it how currently if you enter for example the standard “Upper Deck” or “Topps” for that year; this produces pretty much ALL sets & inserts from that brand from that year – for example for topps it would show all of topps, finest, chrome & anything else made by topps – kinda annoying.

Pretty sure there was some other issues but I can’t remember them right now.. will post if I do :)

Thanks!

On the My Collections portion of the new site, will we be able to at least have printer friendly pages of our collection? Would love to be able to export the information so we can have it at a glance but I understand that will not be a feature we will have. Thanks and I am looking forward to the new site.
