The Beckett Blog

Beckett featured on The Onion

Beckett was featured on one of my favorite websites today (second to Beckett.com, of course). The Onion, a satire news site, always provides a good laugh, and today I noticed a funny article posted with the title “A-Rod Checks Beckett Baseball Card Monthly To See If Rookie Card Went Up.” There’s some slight language beyond the jump – you’ve been warned.

With all the A-Rod controversy lately, it’s hilarious that they didn’t even mention it. Someone pointed out that they called him a “third basement” instead of a “third baseman.” Was that a typo, or was it on purpose? Anyway, that just makes me wonder how much a player’s personal life can affect the value of their cards. Thoughts? Michael Vick references welcome!
