We have launched a new product, a big product. That is what was in all of the brown boxes in an earlier rambling post.
The new large-format slab is going to open up a world of possibilities. Things that couldn’t be slabbed before can now be protected in one of our 9.5″ X 13″ slabs.
I told you something big was coming. This picture does not really show how big the new slabs are, so here is another picture with the three sizes of slabs next to each other-yes, the Canseco is for Mario.
My Hunter Pence BGS 9.5 is top right, the slab everyone is used to seeing.
Here is another shot, with a BGS/JSA slab (Andre Dawson) laying on top of the new large-format slab.
I am real excited about the possibilities this new size brings to Beckett Grading Services. Keep your ears open, there is more news to come about this new product…

Find out how to win this autographed 1993 Upper Deck Derek Jeter buyback RC in Beckett Baseball No. 44 on sale now.

Some guy named Jeter…never heard of him.
Comment by ejahnke July 25, 2008 @ 6:11 pmIt’s not really slabbed, just had to put something in there. Nothing quite as impressive as an empty slab…:)
Comment by ejahnke July 26, 2008 @ 7:35 pmMaybe I haven’t mentioned that when I was growing up, Jose Canseco was second only to Nolan Ryan in my book.
I kept that one just because he was on it…
Sick, isn’t it?
Comment by ejahnke July 27, 2008 @ 12:48 pmSo Beckett is going to be grading magazines, programs, and yearbooks?
Comment by JRJ July 28, 2008 @ 7:56 amNot right away at least. We will be slabbing larger items that have been autographed and then authenticated by JSA, and also oversize cards.
There are tons of plans in the works, but we are not actually grading outside of what we already do right now.
Comment by ejahnke July 28, 2008 @ 8:28 amCome to think of it…I have a ton of stuff I want to get “JSA’ed” (Beckett office term), that I couldn’t get slabbed before.
Somehow my Dad got Earl Campbell to mail me a birthday card, back when I was 14 (?) or so. (They were both in the hospital at the same time.)
My Jim Kelly Houston Gamblers photo that my Mom got me (he was at Foley’s I think).
My J.R. Richard Sports Illustrated cover I got him to sign at a Round Rock Express game. I delivered him the ball to throw out the first pitch–in my UPS uniform. Sweeeeet….
