Upper Deck Releases Newest ‘Pro Shots’ Action Figures

00-british-open-lrHitting retail and hobby shop shelves next week, the next shipment of Upper Deck “Pro Shots” will feature two new Tiger Woods action figures. With poses derived from imagery at the 2000 U.S. Open and British Open, these 7” collectible figures commemorate two of Tiger’s keystone career moments. 

As Upper Deck informs us, “The two moments captured include Tiger’s incomparable backswing with his driver in hand (British Open) and his crowd-pleasing iron shot on the fairway (U.S. Open).” (more…)

Show-and-Tell: Presidential Pulls

When I was in elementary school, there was always some kid who would inevitably bring in a pony, a unicorn, or an alleged moon rock to show off at show-and-tell. I lived in a humble household with a limited budget, so I typically brought in our electric bill to explain the benefits of proper insulation. The other children would swoon over little Johnny’s “moon rock” (hunk of asphalt) and I would be in the corner, yawning and going over kWh numbers.

While the other show-and-tell items were certainly impressive in their own right, they just didn’t seem to have any real magnitude behind them. I needed something that was either practical or indisputably significant. I needed something weighty, something original, something along the lines of a cut signature from a former U.S. President. If only collectors like Seth Garrow and Jacob Lee were in my class, I would have been much more entertained.

Having recently pulled cut signatures from Grover Cleveland and John F. Kennedy respectively, Garrow and Lee have clearly taken the cake at show-and-tell. Gather ‘round, sit cross-legged and hear (read) a tale about these stately pulls. (more…)
