The messenger should never be shot, especially when the news is better than speculated. Please put down that weapon.
Amidst the turbulent economy, In The Game saw less than desirable sales numbers for its 2008-09 Between The Pipes release. Normally, dwindling sales in a period of fiscal conservation leads to a plug being pulled, if not snipped at the socket. However, despite the ugly numbers ITG President, Dr. Brian H. Price dispelled speculation when he noted, “Rather than punish our loyal collectors, I decided to reward them.”
“Last week I had to make a decision based on the advanced sales of Between The Pipes, whether or not to cancel the release of this product or not,” Price revealed. Fortunately, for collectors looking to briefly step away from the abysmal economic situation, Price favored the latter. ITG’s collector considerate president noted, “I consulted with several distributors, dealers and collectors and determined that this would not be fair to those who wait to collect this product every year.” (more…)

There’s only about 30 minutes remaining in a special championship game IPO for the final batch of World Baseball Classic eTopps cards as this is posted, but here they are:
Dae Ho Lee (Korea) — $5, a maximum of 749 will be produced
Hisashi Iwakuma (Japan) — $5, a maximum of 999 will be produced
Ichiro Suzuki (Japan) — $5.50, a maxiumum of 749 will be produced
Tae Kyun Kim (Korea) — $6, a maximum of 749 will be produced
The cards are available until 5 p.m. Eastern time but if you’re caught short today, the cards will be allocated immediately for trading in advance of tonight’s WBC championship game between Japan and Korea.
Collectors who put together the entire 12-card set will receive a card commemorating the winner of tonight’s game.
