Pittsburgh Steelers DB Troy Polamalu – and his hair — returns to McFarlane Toys’ 21st series of SportsPicks, the company’s popular 6-inch vinyl action figures.
It’s not Polamalu’s first figure — but perhaps this one showcases his famous mane the best. He previously appeared in Series 14 and in a Super Bowl XL two-pack, while a Steelers two-pack of Polamalu with Hines Ward is set to arrive in August.
His latest figure is scheduled to arrive in October with that series also including debut figures for six players. A sneak peek with freshly released images is below.

Collectors who don’t dabble in anything other than sports cards probably have missed out on what are some of the hottest cards of the last eight months or so.
A handful of sets have made serious waves in that time, and it’s perhaps Inkworks’ cards from the teen-age vampire movie/book series Twilight that caught our attention the most.
While Inkworks has taken a break from producing cards, collectors haven’t taken a break from Twilight cards, consistently paying more than $200 — and sometimes as close as $300 — for a 24-pack box that includes just one Pieceworks (screen-worn memorabilia) card and a selection of base cards and other inserts inside.
No autographs. Just a lot of vampires — and obviously a lot of demand.
The biggest hit of them all so far has been Robert Pattinson’s shirt card seen above, which is consistently selling for between $150 and $300.

Today might as well be a national holiday — Rick Vaughn bobblehead night — in Cleveland where every fan in attendance will receive a nodder of “Wild Thing,” the greatest Indians pitcher in reel life.
The Indians will face the Milwaukee Brewers — and if you know your Wisconsin radio hosts that means that broadcasting legend Harry Doyle (aka Brewers Hall of Fame announcer Bob Uecker) will be on hand for the game.
Now for those of you who live juuuuuuuussssst a bit outside Cleveland, there’s already quite a market for the Vaughns over on eBay. Fifty of the bobbleheads have sold in the last 30 days — most for somewhere between $15 and $36 (not including shipping). Most of them have sold for $20-25.

Topps announced its second 2009 Red Hot Rookie Redemption on Monday and it’s Chicago White Sox infielder Gordon Beckham.
The card has a twist — one in 10 redeemers will received a card signed by the former University of Georgia star and 2008 first-round pick.
Beckham made his major league debut earlier this month and is hitting just .114 (4-for-35) with four RBIs through his first 10 games.
Collectors who already redeemed their card can check their Topps account to see whether they received a signed version.
The remainder of the 10-card Red Hot Rookies set will be announced throughout the season. Each Series 2 hobby box includes one of the redemption cards.
The first Red Hot Rookie of the year was New York Mets rookie Fernando Martinez.
