Rose is Out, Red Sox ‘Cover’ by Pepper Hastings

Ix-nay on the Pete Rose cover for the December Beckett Baseball magazine. Magazine designers are scrambling as of 10 a.m., putting together a commemorative Red Sox World Series Champions cover.

The Red Sox sweep of the Rockies allowed us to pull a few strings at the printer and get a late cover change. Had the Series gone five games or past today, Rose would have been your cover boy.

Does everything happen for a reason?

This is baseball still trying to keep Pete Rose down. Obviously Comissioner Bud saw what Beckett was up to and told the Rockies to take a knee so we would have to roll out a Red Sox cover. That is the power of the Red Sox Nation. Dang it!

I think Rose is a great choice for an off-season cover. I’m glad this all worked out for Red Sox fans, and the rest of us next issue.
