First look: 2010 Topps Triple Threads baseball cards by Chris Olds

Topps unveiled the basic product breakdown and preview images for its 2010 Triple Threads baseball card set on Thursday, a product that appears to take the staples of the always popular line and add even more high-end variety to the fold.

Set to arrive in late August, it will consist of a 120-card base set made up of veterans and retired players and will pack one autographed triple Relic and one triple Relic card per box.

The familiar parallels in the base will return as well with Printing Plates and Platinum 1/1s to be found along with Sapphire, Gold, Emerald and Sepia for the base cards. The Relics will have their own slates of parallels that also will include printing plates and Wood parallels.

As always there will be an exotic mix of memorabilia lineups in the deep Relic checklist. We’ll have more on this product later in the week.

For now, check out an extensive gallery of images after the jump.

Can someone please explain to me why they dont use plain white stickers to sign instead of these ugly ones they have been using for years. Topps can do the same thing with the white stickers as they can with these hologram like ones and it wont take away from the auto, infact it would give it that “cut auto” effect and make the auto easier to see. Im all about buying high end cards but Im not going to spend a penny until they stop using these ugly stickers. Does anyone feel the same way? Can someone pleaseeee explain to me the purpose of these ugly sticker autos? Thanks!

The David Wright auto/relic cards look terible. There using a red jersy. The Mets don’t wear any red. Also the checklist shows a Tom Seaver auto/relic, but I’ve yet to see one on ebay. I think he’s not doing as many autographs as in the past. There were no Seaver auto’s in the Tribute series.
