First look: 2010 Bowman Draft Picks & Prospects Stephen Strasburg Autograph by Chris Olds

Topps is apparently taking a different  approach with what could be the biggest Chrome autograph card in recent years — if not ever — as it teased the card image for Stephen Strasburg‘s 2010 Bowman Chrome Draft RC on Thursday.

Interestingly, it doesn’t feature an action photo — instead a curtain call from his big-league debut game on June 8.

That’s a move that might make some collectors cringe but is perhaps one that will stand out among the countless cards Strasburg has this season.

Does it help or hurt a card like this? Thoughts on this move? Let us know in the comments and take the poll below.

That card is horrible.

how about I don’t care because topps hasn’t produced enough bowman this year and a lot of true collectors that have been buying bowman for years have been priced out of even having the chance at the card?

Looks great. Another winner for Topps.

funny you put the poll up because i was just going to comment on how i dislike the card…they really should of used an action photo in my opinion but whatever.

thank you Josh…and the horizontal card is much better looking…how about an autograph on that one?

dan- are you agreeing or disagreeing?

Did they really not print enough? Priced out? It’s supply and demand. I’m sure that they produced the same amount as last year or more. Printing more would dilute the value of the cards. It would be like the 90s all over again.

all i know is that i have most bowman baseball cards from the past ten years and this year i have been unable to afford more than 5 or 6 packs. i’m a college student. i was told by the owner of a local card shop that they had stopped even bothering to buy cases of bowman because topps raised the price to where they would be selling packs for about ten dollars a pack. for bowman. im so disappointed that topps has imo handled the strasburg craze so poorly. i miss upper deck

I think that’s your card store jerkin their customers around with inflated prices. You can still pre-purchase this stuff all over the place.
