Upper Deck scraps 2010 Ultimate Collection Football; ups ante in 2010-11 SP Authentic Basketball by Chris Olds

Upper Deck released a pair of statements to distributors about two forthcoming products on Monday, with one product getting the red light and the other one getting a green light for some higher-end autograph additions.

First, the company has decided to scrap its plans for a 2010 Ultimate Collection Football set, which would have been a college release under its exclusive deal with the Collegiate Licensing Company. The company cited the present state of the industry, which is crowded with many slow-moving, perhaps overproduced products at this time.

Product Preview: 2009-10 Upper Deck Ultimate Collection hockey cards by Chris Olds

Upper Deck recently released the product breakdown and preview images for its 2009-10 Ultimate Collection hockey set, a higher-end product that packs one Rookie Card, one autograph and one memorabilia card in every four-card pack.

Collectors will find four patch cards per 15-box case as well as one autographed memorabilia card. Upper Deck also promises three top-level autographs in every case as well.

While collectors will have to wait until April 27 to get their hands on these cards, they can see a gallery of preview images after the jump.

First look: 2009 Upper Deck Ultimate Collection baseball cards by Chris Olds

Upper Deck announced its plans for 2009 Ultimate Collection Baseball on Thursday, with the latest rendition of the product packing plenty when it arrives in late January.

Each four-card box will include one autograph, memorabilia, or signed memorabilia card and the checklist will include the return of  Roberto Clemente as well as greats like Ted Williams and Joe DiMaggio.

Every 15-box case will include two Ultimate Rookie Signatures as well as one Dual, Triple, Quad, Six or Eight autograph card.

The base set consists of 55 veterans (cards numbered to 599), 45 rookies (numbered to 599) and 10 Ultimate Rookie Autographs (numbering varies).

Every case also will include three autographed memorabilia cards and six Ultimate Memorabilia cards that may include Jumbo Jerseys, Bat Barrels, patches and more.
